Lauren Beirne’s physical work is rooted in momentum, weight, transition and breath. Her class is a combination of clean, classical techniques, improvisation, theatricality and fast paced floor work. As a choreographer, she seeks authenticity and humanity in performance, highlighting the unique qualities each dancer can bring to the movement.

Artist Bio

Brooklyn-based artist Lauren Beirne holds a BFA from MGSA, Rutgers and an MFA from Tisch, NYU, both in dance performance, choreography and pedagogy, and is a certified Mind Body Dancer Yoga instructor. She has performed with RJDW, Kate Weare, Deborah Jowitt, Motus Dance Theatre, The White Rabbit Cabaret, NMDP, Suzanne Bearhs Dance, and Desert Sin. She founded her own professional dance company, Lauren Beirne Dance Works, in 2015. Her work has been presented at NYU, Dance NJ, The Lower Eastside Festival of the Arts, IDF & Indy Fringe, The HATCH Series, The Actors Fund Arts Center, Your Move, The Rabbithole, The Garage at FDU in residency with NMDP, RAW ARTISTS, Dixon Place Split Bill Series, John Jay College, Top Floor at West Fest, All Over West Beth, the 2016 & 2017 DUMBO Dance Festival, Dumbo Solo/Duo Festival 2017, The Green Space, RVCC, and the self-produced series “6,000 Bobby Pins Later.” Lauren has been teaching theatre and dance throughout the U.S. for close to two decades. She is the former Ballet Director for Kenyetta Dance Company, and Modern Dance Program founder at Ballerina’s Academy. This past year she was the Guest Artist & Choreographer in Residency for the “A Week with the Master’s” Series at Ballet Forte and a Master Teacher for classes at Sacred Heart University, Raritan Valley Community College and Sunnyside Ballet. Lauren is currently on faculty at Brooklyn College Prep Center, Spoke the Hub, and Creative Arts in NYC.
