HeART highlighted in the Ridgewood News’ ‘Creative ways to continue arts in a pandemic’

HeART in Motion is staying safe and sanitized while offering dance, music, yoga and fitness classes with responsible social distancing at its spacious studio in the heart of Ridgewood, New Jersey.

Artistic Director Nikki Manx was recently quoted in the Jan. 1, 2021 edition of the Ridgewood News in its article “Creative ways to continue arts in a pandemic.”

“The community has come together more than ever,” Manx told the newspaper. “The biggest change is now we have 15 minutes in between each class to sanitize.”

In-person classes are limited to 10 students, while additional students can join hybrid classes by participating at home using Zoom.

“I think hybrid is the way of the future so that everyone can participate however they feel comfortable, because things aren’t going to be the same,” Manx told Ridgewood News.

Community members have appreciated HeART’s efforts to provide high-quality and joyful dance experiences for all ages, levels, aspirations, and abilities in Bergen County, New Jersey.

“When quarantine began, my heart looked for familiarity in a world of chaos and I found myself longing for ballet,” an adult student recently told HeART. “Thank you for reminding me of what feels like a second home, and providing inspiration daily.”

For kids, the routine of ongoing classes has allowed them to continue normal activities during the pandemic while also continuing their arts training.

“I’m incredibly grateful to HeART in Motion for making my daughter so happy. I adore the philosophy of its youth program and appreciate all of its efforts to keep the studio open and a place of hope for the kids,”  one  parent recently told HeART.

HeART offers a compassionate and nurturing learning environment while also maintaining an emphasis on proper technique and artistry from the heart.

“We believe in setting high but manageable expectations to allow students to grow and be pushed in a way that also sets them up for success,” said Manx.
